EGR warnings,

The exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system returns a controlled amount of exhaust gas to the engine intake to help reduce nitrogen oxide emissions. Its operation depends on the valve, controls and related air-management components working together.
Deposits, a sticking valve, electrical faults or other system issues can affect operation. A stored EGR fault code helps guide diagnosis, but it does not prove the valve needs replacing.
Similar symptoms can come from faults elsewhere in the engine. Tell us when the issue started, the exact warning and whether recent work has been carried out.

EGR diagnosis & repair costs
EGR diagnosis starts from $220 incl. GST. Repairs and replacement parts are quoted separately after assessment. The total cost depends on component access and the work required. Contact us to confirm the diagnostic scope and price for your vehicle.

EGR diagnosis & repair questions
Does an EGR fault code mean I need a new valve?
No. A code identifies a condition detected by the control system. Further checks help establish whether the cause is the valve, a connection, a control issue, restricted flow or another related fault.
Can an EGR valve be cleaned instead of replaced?
Sometimes, depending on the condition and cause of the fault. Cleaning can address suitable deposit-related restrictions, but it cannot repair a failed electrical component or physical damage. We discuss the appropriate option after assessment.
Is EGR repair the same as DPF cleaning?

Can you diagnose the vehicle at our workshop or depot?
Onsite attendance across Brisbane, Gold Coast and Ipswich is by arrangement. Send the location, engine details and fault information so we can confirm diagnostic coverage and whether the work can be completed there.
Will clearing the warning fix an EGR problem?
A reset does not repair the underlying cause. If the fault remains, the warning may return. Diagnosis and the relevant checks after repair are needed to confirm system operation.
How long does an EGR repair take?
The time depends on the vehicle, access, diagnostic findings and parts availability. We discuss the expected work and downtime after assessment. Include any operating deadlines when you enquire.
